WHO IS A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST?Clinical Psychology applies the knowledge of psychology to emotional and physical problems. Clinical Psychologists assess mental health problems, provide diagnosis and give treatmentthrough psychotherapy. However, they do NOT prescribe medication. (Psychiatrists are medical doctors specialized in the field of mental health and prescribe medication.)

HOW ARE COUNCELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY DIFFERENT?Counseling is generally seen as more short term in nature while psychotherapy is viewed as more long-term treatment towards healing. Dr. Hila provides psychotherapy within the state of California and offers nationwide counseling.

HOW OFTEN ARE THERAPY APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED?It depends on the person and the nature of the problem. Frequency could vary from 1-3 sessions per week, with the average being ONCE PER WEEK.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF EACH APPOINTMENT?The length of treatment sessions is between 50 to 55 minutes unless discussed otherwise. The remaining 5-10 minutes of the hour are used to review the client’s file and write notes to document the appointment.

HOW MANY TREATMENT SESSIONS ARE NECESSARY?It depends on several variables including the nature and severity of the problem, the treatment goals selected, and the selected approach. The psychologist and the client plan and agree on it together.

HOW ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?Your confidentiality and privacy are protected. The limits to confidentiality are always reviewed during the first appointment. The entrance door is different with the exit and clients do not sit with each other at the same time. In online therapy, only the doctor and the client are present.

WHAT ARE THE FEES?Psychological services may be covered by some health insurance plans. Please contact your insurance plan to determine whether Dr. Hila Madani is an in--network or out of network contracted provider. For more details contact the office.

HOW TO PAY THE FEES?Fees are payable after each session by cash, check, credit or debit card. A statement is issued when payment is received. Statements/invoices can be kept for the purpose of sharing with insurance or income tax claims. Note: Sometimes Fees that are paid without coverage are tax-deductible as they qualify under the category of medical expenses.

WHAT IS THE CANCELATION POLICY?There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please inform the office 24 hours prior to your scheduled time in case of cancellation. The full fee will be charged for late cancellations or missed appointments. Insurance companies do not reimburse the cancelled or missed sessions.
